Thick ice and continuously falling snow blanket the entirety of Eternal, brought upon by Noc's wrath. Shelter is scarce, and food even scarcer. There is no climate or biome that was lucky enough to find themselves safe from the beginnings of the Ice Age and so the residents of Eternal must don their primal survival instincts and to just that ─ survive. Ice blockages have grown supernaturally between the islands, blocking Sunsteppe from Sol and Eventide from Noc, effectively trapping each islander on whichever island they currently stand. The Dragonfrost and dusk leopards from Gleamleaf and greater boreus deer from Mountainfade have seeped into all of Noc, Eventide's spectors and Sunsteppe's sculptors have overrun the central island, and the wolves, Ice Piskys, and Creeping Thistle have invaded all of Sol.

10.4.18 Whatever unknown thing that invaded the southern territories in the middle of spring has snaked its icy fingers out and enveloped those remaining territories that everyone had believed (or hoped) to be safe. Wolves, Creeping Thistle, Pesky Piskys, Blackrock's river... Not even Sunsteppe is safe from the intrusion, though it appears -- at least for now -- that the Wreckage remains untouched. Perhaps it should be investigated?

9.17.18 Something isn't right. Eternal still refuses to warm, even as we progress through spring and near summer. The southernmost territories have begun to notice some changes: from Greater Boreus Deer in Mountainfade, to Dragonfrost in Gleamleaf; frozen sandstorms in Astraldune, and even icy wraiths in Eventide. What happened? And what can be done to return the islands to normal?

9.2.18 Springtime has come, but the frigid winter still remains, enveloping the three islands in ice, snow and brutal wind. There are no flowers, nor grass - no foliage at all. The animals are beginning to suffer, as they emerge from hibernation or birth their young, struggling to find sustenance. The air is thick with tension, as a wretched and unforgiving storm brews still in the distance - will Eternal find reprieve from the cold?

Appearance
Imbris boasts an iridescent coat, the perfect match for the element she holds nearest to her heart. The cerulean hair gleams in sunlight and moonlight alike, and her sweeping dark blue mane and tail are nearly always damp. When Imbris lurks in the water, her cobalt tresses become one with the liquid, oftentimes transforming from hair to water.

Her eyes, glowing emerald gems, rest beneath a long blue forelock. Her face is not dished but there is a sharp prominence in Imbris' cheek bones and a harshness to her expression, which is usually unmatched by her demeanor. Her neck is thick and muscled, leading to a broad chest and fairly lanky legs. Her barrel is curved but not overly so, leading to the gleaming plane of her muscled hindquarters.

History
She mewls and opens her emerald eyes for the first time, greeted by the celestial skies of her father as the world moves from dusk to darkness, ushering Sol away with it. Noc stands over her, coal-colored and regal, but it’s the retreating golden mare that holds the newborn’s attention for the moment. She can see the love in her mother’s eyes even as the sunlight mare is beckoned away, and though the newborn deity Imbris knows naught of this world yet, she can sense that she is safe here in the darkness with Noc.

Her love for the inky darkness grows as she ages ─ there is nothing like the starry sky or the borealis that dances within it each night. Imbris spends eternity staring into the heavens, and though she is fond of her mother and of the golden splendor of sunlight, the young deity cannot contain her excitement as the sun begins to set each day to make way for darkness and her father’s nightly return.

Noc swiftly becomes the young girl’s mentor, teaching Imbris about the world and her powers to influence it. He shows her how to give life and how to take it, carefully curating her skills around the notion that she must do good for their world. Imbris is swift to learn and swift to take her studies into her own hands, despite Helios’ affinity for causing distractions (destructive ones, at that), and soon finds that she has developed a new love that is nearly as strong as her love for the darkness ─

A love for water.

Imbris grows even fonder of water, the way Aya had always been fond of the earth, when she realizes that she can personify its attributes to become the being that her father wanted her to be. She could be steadfast and unyielding, or gentle and forgiving. She could even be dangerous ─ roiling and dark, with a powerful current hidden beneath the surface. It was all of these attributes combined that she would need to tolerate the fiery Helios, and to fight his notion that their beautiful new world should be swathed in nothing except sunlight.

Decades pass and yet Imbris and Helios cannot see eye to eye, forever skirmishing to prove why their vision for Eternal is the correct one. Aya, tired of their bickering, meets with Sol and Noc. Their parents’ disapproval rings loudly through all of Eternal and soon their home is torn asunder, half of it relinquished to Helios so that he may live forever beneath the golden sun, and half of it blanketed in a starlit darkness to appease Imbris and her desires.

Aya and her powers are mighty, but even the eldest daughter of Noc and Sol cannot mend the fissure between her younger siblings. She gifts Imbris with chains made of the finest gold that gleam supernaturally in the darkness and tells her, “These chains are made of sunlight, and should serve to remind you that there must be balance in the world, sister, otherwise none of us will survive.”

And so Imbris continues to wear the delicate golden jewelry, thinking of Helios and Aya whenever the moonlight catches them just right.
